Lying in State of The Right Excellent Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, National Hero of Barbados

The Parliament of Barbados advises that the body of The Right Excellent Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, National Hero of Barbados, will lie in state in the Chamber of the House of Assembly, Parliament Buildings, Bridgetown, on Monday, 27th July, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., when members of the public are invited to pay their respects, ahead of the State Funeral to be held at Kensington Oval on Wednesday, 29th July, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Members of the public unable to attend in person may view the proceedings via the Parliament's official live stream at www.barbadosparliament.com/parliament_tv.

 

A condolence book will be available at the Parliament Buildings. The Parliament of Barbados extends its deepest condolences to the family of Sir Garfield and joins the nation in honouring the life and legacy of one of Barbados' greatest sons.
